Because of the wide range of application requirements in the processing and recycling industries, Diamond Equipment offers two styles of magnets for use in removing ferrous materials from conveyors. Both styles are available in self-cleaning and stationary variations, though self-cleaning is the preferred configuration for most installations.

Both self-cleaning electro-magnets and self-cleaning permanent magnets can be installed in either in-line or cross-belt configurations.

A conveyor belt travels around the magnet and carries the material that is drawn upward, away and into collecting hoppers or onto the ground.

Units are typically installed either in-line with corresponding conveyors, or in a cross-belt configuration (90° across the conveyor belt).

Both styles of magnets have advantages. Nothing can compare to the power of the magnetic field created by an electro-magnet. For the most efficient work in the most heavy-duty applications, electro-magnets are the preferred choice.

Permanent magnets offer a more economical ferrous removal solution. They also have the added benefit of not requiring additional electric power, and can be driven with hydraulic motors upon request.
