Diamond Equipment carries the Derrick line of linear motion Dewatering Screens which are ideally suited for dilute slurries, solids recovery, dewatering, and slurries with low amounts of oversize such as scalping or trash screen applications. With its high fluid capacity and low head room requirements, Derrick linear motion Dewatering Screens are available in dual and single motor configurations.

The dual motor version incorporates two Derrick vibrating motors rotating in opposite directions, causing the screen frame to vibrate in a linear or straight-line motion perpendicular to the base plane of the motors. The more economical single motor version develops linear motion through the use of a unique, patented, pivoting motor mount system.

Principle of Operation

A Derrick Linear Motion screen is equipped with two vibrating motors rotating in opposite directions. This dual motor configuration causes the screen frame to vibrate in a linear or straight-line motion perpendicular to the plane of the motors. Normally, the motors are positioned at an angle of 50 degrees with respect to the screen surface. This results in excellent forward conveyance of oversize particles, even when the screen frame is in an uphill position.

Depending upon the application, the screen frame can be positioned from 10 degrees uphill to 15 degrees downhill. Maximum fluid capacity is achieved in the uphill position, causing the formation of a pool at the feed end of the machine. The head or pressure from the pool increases fluid throughput. The linear motion of the screen frame efficiently conveys the oversize particles out of the pool area where they are then dewatered and discharged.

Derrick Hi-G Dryer

Fine solids generated by quarry operations, traditionally considered a waste product, can now be economically recovered with the Derrick Hi-G Dryer. This proven technology, consisting of a high frequency, linear motion vibrating screen fed from a cluster of 20 hydrocyclones, can be used alone or incorporated into a more complex flowsheet. Fine solids, normally the overflow from a screw classifier, are pumped at 30 to 40 psi to a circular manifold of twenty 4 inch diameter hydrocyclones.

The thickened cyclone underflow is directed to a high frequency vibrating screen fitted with Derrick's high open area, long life, urethane panels with 0.5 mm (35 mesh) openings. The intense "G" forces developed by the linear motion screen dewater and convey the recovered fine solids off the screen to a stockpile or conveyer. The small amount of fines and water passing through the screen are circulated back to the hydrocyclone feed.
